1. Do you think that Councils and community members need to have a greater voice in planning and development decisions affecting their local area?
   Absolutely, the Planning Code review is our chance to address this need.

2. What role should Councils play in protecting local heritage places from demolition or inappropriate development?
   Council’s play the leading role in considering, consulting, and protecting valuable built form.

3. How would you seek to improve protections for heritage places in your area?
   Through both the state planning review and through increasing local heritage places, which can be achieved through robust assessment of local heritage items.

4. We rarely see new places added to local heritage listings. Why do you think this is?
   The assessment of items is often left too long. A strategy for rolling assessment should be instituted. Benefits are protection, funding, preservation.

5. How has the Planning and Design Code impacted on the heritage, amenity, and environment of your area? What changes would you seek to the Code?
   Local technical and numerical variations TNVs have been eroded, and require restoration.

6. What are the impacts of infill development in your area? What changes would you seek in the rules around infill development?
   In Gault ward mitcham, a number of dwellings have been constructed that are considered too contemporary (skillion roofs, low ceiling height, low mix of material facades) notwithstanding grand modern and Neo-classics can be fitting, the architecture should remain of equal to that of the existing.

7. Construction of new housing typically uses 30% labour and 70% materials. Renovation of existing housing stock typically uses 70% labour and 30% materials. What policy changes would you like to see made to encourage people to renovate, rather than demolish and build anew?
   Incentives, such as financial to maintain exterior elements such as facade, roof lines etc. other incentives may include rate reductions, maintenance funds, quicker processing.

8. How should the community be informed and involved in decisions about new developments?
   Public notifications, and fully accessible development application libraries.

9. Do you think there is adequate tree canopy across your local government area?
   Yes one of the best.

10. How would you like to see significant and regulated trees in your area protected from removal?
    Current provisions appear to be affective and balanced.

11. What involvement should Councils have in decisions about protecting or removing significant and regulated trees?
    As they are now, the arborist assessment do mean tree health and contribution are considered.

12. What actions would you advocate to slow or mitigate the impacts of climate change in your local government area?
    Financial Incentives for new and renovations that incorporate thermal treatments such as glazing, high R ratings on isolation, and water capture and reuse.

13. What issues are there with traffic and parking in your area?
    Too many cars on the street.

14. How could transport options be improved in your area?
    Through advocacy increased regularity would be beneficial

15. What would your top three priorities be for improving planning policy and outcomes in your local government area?
    Enhance quality of public realm infrastructure - walkable city, less reliance on cars
    Water sensitive urban design in streetscapes
    Incentivize and promote initiatives to support environmental outcomes
