Heritage survey responses.

1. What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
   I think it plays an important part of protecting and conserving the heritage of our city and have tried diligently to protect several character areas within the City of Charles Sturt and I am certainly a supporter of the protection. However we have come up with opposition from the State Government who is hell bent on building high rises and stock standard housing developments.

2. What measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
   having protection zones that limit inappropriate development and not fitting within the character of the area

3. What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
   Convincing the State Government!

4. What policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
   Amending the development plan to protect heritage areas and having character zones

5. Do you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
   Yes absolutely! Councils are best placed to know the local environment and their residents are best placed to make comment. Not a panel that does not know the area!

6. Do you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
   I think the State Government should stay out of planning decisions where the council are best placed to make the decisions.
