What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
provide guidelines through the better development plan for the area
What measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
Assistance with grants for those organisations that are not for profit. Although it would be fitting to offer incentives to privately owned premises in todays climate of insufficient funds to support other infrastructure development I cannot see this being possible.
What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
Wallaroo Mines and Moonta Mines areas - some infrastructure in decay
What policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
Support existing policies and programs that are in place
Do you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
No - I support regional DAPs. Local panels tend to be influenced and guided by personalities. Also need to rely on opinions of professional staff rather to make own decisions on the applications due to most elected members lack of experience and knowledge in this field.
Do you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
Council is already heavily involved in protection of its heritage areas - example redevelopment of the old fertilizer factory site (Pivot)
