Heritage survey responses.
What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
I believe that Councils role (Vision and Mission) should be to Create, Develope and then Defend, the lifestyle and wellbeing of the Community. History and culture are integral parts of vibrant and complex societies and therefore our historical heritage should be defended. A local government entity cannot do it all, but could play a greater role in partnership with State and Federal governments. What measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
The partnerships mentioned above. What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
The city is a reasonable mix of old and new and the Council would already be unsympathetic to any proposal to destroy any further notable buildings. But it could do more to support the protection and restoration of the old Court House. What policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
As I don't yet know what programs and policies are already in place, if any, this question is difficult to answer.Do you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
YesDo you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
Not until I am elected if elected
