Heritage survey responses.
What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
Council has a role in: - establishing, maintaining and updating a heritage register - consulting with experts and local groups around heritage issues - assisting where possible with advice on matters of heritage
What measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
I support the current financial and information services provided by council around heritage issues and development.
What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
Our Natural features including the lakes area followed by our built heritage are very worthy of protection.
What policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
Continue to work and develop current council heritage policy, procedure and registers. Continue to support the work of local heritage groups and support the conservation measures taken already with council archives.
Do you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
Council should have a say in development approvals for all levels of development. Critically is the way in which council works with other parties to reach a satisfactory resolution.
Do you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
As an owner of a property of local heritage significance and as an advocate for the preservation of similar sites I strongly support the checks and balances of any development new or restoration to ensure history is preserved or improved upon.
