What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
I believe council plays a vital role in protecting and conserving the local heritage within the area. Council must ensure that these sites are available to future generations, by making appropriate decisions that will, where feasible and appropriate, ensure their long term prospects. What measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
i support appropriate planning laws that protect local heritage sites, which are guided by advice from bodies such as the National Trust. I support the freedom of local residents to put forward their own concerns and views for local sites, whilst ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to protect our significant history. What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
i believe that we all have a part to play in protecting our history for future generations and that responsible local government has an important role in the decision making process. What policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
I will advocate for tight scrutiny over planning applications that involve historical sites to ensure protection of our heritage.Do you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
yes, localised approval ensures that there is a consistent approach to planning applications and allows local government to make decisions that will benefit the area. Who better to make a decision than someone who lives in the area that is impacted.Do you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
