What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
Councils should play a significant role in protecting and conserving heritage. Council have an obligation to ensure development is consistent with the character of the area in consultation with the community.What measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
Heritage grants for conserving, maintaining and restoring heritage buildings. Heritage zones in certain circumstances with community consultations. Grants and policies for preserving significant trees. Educating the community about the historical significance of such structures in order to ensure the protection of our heritage.What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
Within Keswick Ward the preservation of the building originally known as Keswick and Richmond ‘Mothers and Babies’ Health Association, located in Kesmond Reserve. In the wider area, the Thebarton Theatre, needs to be preserved as it is a wonderful community asset.What policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
Heritage grants. Heritage zones in certain circumstances and with community consultation. Additionally ensuring the community is educated about the cultural and historical significance of such structures to ensure that they are protected.Do you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
