Heritage survey responses.

1. What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
   The Councils need to be active in identifying and preserving any items that are or might be of heritage interest and value. They should be interactive with the Trust in any way necessary to achieve these objectives.

2. What measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
   Accurate listings and descriptions of items Active measures to ensure public awareness and interest and commitment towards preservation and where practicable, display and upkeep.

3. What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
   Identification of items and qualification of there worthiness for protection.

4. What policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
   More interaction with the Trust and understanding and alignment with the ideals and benefits to the community.

5. Do you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
   I do. There needs to be default protection of items of heritage interest to ensure that developers do not overrun the interests of ratepayers in retaining quality of heritage items within their precinct. This then forces reasonable exchange between parties. More stringent guidelines, policies and regulations need to be developed to clarify boundaries for potential development; in other words head of problems before they evolve.

6. Do you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
   I have a general belief that appreciation our heritage assets must grow in a city that is generally known for such values, at least over the last fifty years or so.
