Simon Kretschmer
2014 candidate for City of Charles Sturt.
Heritage survey responses.
What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
This is a questionnaire, not survey. I was a recent participant in the Bay to Birdwood in a 1925 Dodge Brothers. I actively follow the Clipper City of Adelaide project and pay particular attention to the One & All, Falie, Steam Ranger and Pichi Richi organisations. I admire and respect heritage buildings and the surrounds in which they are set. I recognise the role and importance of significant trees. Conservation is import to tourism, civic pride and community identity. The Kretschmer name across the state is well involved in vintage and classic cars, bikes, boats, trains, family history, heritage buildings and documented history. Conservation and sustainable development can work well together. YesDo you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
I get excited when I see the Red Hen trains run through Woodville Train Station from Pt Dock Railway Museum. When we build we should think about what we are leaving for future generations. Will they look back with awe or disappointment?
