Heritage survey responses.
What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
I believe it is a primary responsibility of council to protect and conserve buildings and areas of heritage significance. Steetscape often is neglected or a street predominately made of house or even shops are often allowed to be bulldozed because council does not pay enough attention to these. Council should be providing guidance to developers by ensuring that when a house or shop is past its use by date they replace it with something sympathetic in style and construction to its surrounds and what was there. In many cities overseas the rules are very prescriptive and every part is required to be as original. What measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
I support local heritage areas and in my opinion believe they should be expanded. What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
Resisting the State Governments attempt at forcing the infill development. What policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
Strengthening of local heritage areas and zones, setting up links so that homeowners, builders and developers have access to good information on how to preserve buildings or how to reproduce them as neccesary.Do you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
yes.Do you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
