Heritage survey responses.
What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
Is council the best judge for this? What measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
It is nice to protect local heritage but that costs who is going to pay maybe there need to be set up a heritage fund so items can be protected to put the burden on local government and property owners can be unsustainable , keeping in mind we are a young country and should not keep things , just for the sake of it when the building gets beyond repair and the owner can not afford to fix what happens ?What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
This has not come up in our council areaWhat policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
Do you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
Not sure as I have seen a lot of developments not go ahead because of not in my back yard mentality , so if it is in the public interests then it should be taken out of local government hands as council can have undue pressure put on itDo you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
It is hard as we are small council how are we going to fund this and at the moment businesses are finding it tough so it would be unfair to put another cost impost on them , looking at old photos most of our old buildings have been taken down so I am not sure if we have anything left to heritage list and the important ones that are left are already listed
