Heritage survey responses.
What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
I believe that council in conjunction with state and federal government have a significant role to play in protecting and conserving our heritage. As council is the one that has the power to issue building approvals that can distract and damage a lot of our heritage buildings and bushland, I believe that the planning department have a huge responsibility to be sure that they maintain this. What measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
Personally I have a strong view on preservation of our heritage, as once its gone that's it, its gone. I would like to see the planning department be sure that any new developments in a area of local significance are done so in a way that compliment the existing surroundings, and that don't impact on our heritage bushland. What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
This would be a matter for opinion, but in the local area there are a large number of older buildings that I would like to see all levels of government come to the party and make sure these are preserved in a way that will have them there in their original state for future generations. This with the preservation of local bushland and environmental protections. What policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
I would like to see a way that all levels of government can support the owners of these bushlands and heritage buildings to see them preserved into the futureDo you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
Yes, as I would like to think that councils being locals have the best interest for their local area, ass opposed to state and federal governments.Do you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
I believe that the above answers show my stance on environment and heritage protection in my home area, as I would like to see what we have left preserved for the future, as there is always a way to work around things, its just a matter of thinking laterally
