Heritage survey responses.
What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
To keep control of the planning process and ensure local heritage and state heritage items are preserved including the curtilage surrounding these properties wherever practicable. What measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
As above re the Development Plan and the Development Act. The State and Federal Governments must provide adequate funds to preserve our heritage. Its unrealistic to expect local government to provide funds as the cost would fall on too few for the national and state greater good. What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
Protecting larger properties against sub division as well as the natural heritage of the Torrens Linear Park including the Levi Gardens Caravan Park. Also protecting the Walkerville Oval Precinct including the Memorial Gardens. What policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
Strong will of the Council first and foremost (which is urgently needed). Strong advocacy by the wider community to combat state government's attempts to extend their planning powersDo you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
AbsolutelyDo you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
Yes
